One thing that has always been important to me is the fact that I have been able to do what I actually enjoy (and have always enjoyed) doing throughout my life. In that respect, I consider myself lucky.
After spending the early stages of my life as an elite professional international cyclist, it was a privilege to then complete my higher education in elite sports and cycling coaching - via an Australian Institute of Sport (AIS)/Cycling Australia scholarship at a time when Australian cycling was the undisputed number 1 in the world (the scholarship also gave me the opportunity to further explore my interest in the interaction of sports and scientific research) - and then to remain in the sports area as a coach and testing consultant.
